Self Evaluation

I am very pleased with my toolkit and feel that I completed it successfully. Creating my own examples of policies and guidelines gave me guides to go by and tailor accordingly to online courses I may teach in the future. Also, by completing this assignment, I was challenged to think about how I would handle situations regarding students who lack in participation, strategies I can implement to ensure student success in my classes, and what is considered timely feedback. I was also able to include in this toolkit, aspects and ideas I learned from my own class readings, as well as ideas I learned in this class from my peers.

One thing I would have done differently when creating this toolkit is make its design look better. I would have also liked to add more resources for teachers, as well as students, especially links to free online tools. Since this toolkit will be a valuable resource itself for me in the future, I will still most likely add more of these, as well as additional tips and ideas for strategies and techniques as they are presented to me.

By completing this toolkit, I learned that there are a lot of components that make up an online course and it takes a lot of time, planning, critical thinking, and creativity on the instructors part in order to put it all together in accessible and understandable content. The only thing I can think of that would be a great additional component to this toolkit would be an example syllabus. I realize that all the separate policies and guidelines can be part of a syllabus, however, by combining them along with other pertinent information into one document would be good practice for creating a complete syllabus.
